Crest overview

Crest hangs a panel from the MacBook notch. Hover the notch and it opens: music with album art and controls, today's calendar with one-tap meeting joins, todos and notes, system stats, weather, and a shelf for files and clipboard history.

You can talk to it. A Claude copilot sits behind the panel, running on your own Claude subscription through Claude Code, no API key. Ask questions, or say what to add, and it files todos, notes, and calendar events that you approve with one tap.

For developers: Claude Code and Codex sessions show live in the notch, and agent permission prompts land there and wait until you answer, on every display, even over fullscreen apps.

Quick capture from anywhere: Control-Option-N drops a note into the notch, Control-Option-T a todo. No window, no app switch.

What's new in version 4.11.8

The quiet text is easier to read

The faintest labels in Crest were drawn too close to their background to read comfortably, and on a hovered row they were the worst of it. Every one of them is measurably clearer now, everywhere in the app. Nothing moved and nothing changed shape, so it should feel like the same Crest with less squinting.

Recent, if you're jumping versions: 4.11 put your licence on your account, so anything you buy unlocks every Mac you sign in on, and Crest now checks in on that licence quietly in the background without ever interrupting you.
